SUCCESS STORY
INSTITUT GUTMANN
The Institut Guttmann, established in 1965, is a non-profit organization, and its main objective is to promote, encourage and ensure full rehabilitation of people affected by spinal cord injury, acquired brain injury or other neurological disabilities, to develop research and teaching in the field of neuroscience, and to give them support and more convenient services to achieve a satisfactory social reintegration while contributing to the full recognition of their rights and effective equalising of opportunities.
The challenge
Institut Guttmann had an analogical telephone system with offering limited benefits. Aware of the daily mobility needs of the staff as well as the modernization of their working tools, the manager decides to implement a unified communications system, with the aim of simplifying the management of the communications and improving the service offered to the patients through a greater mobility of the staff, both in the hospital itself and remotely.
“At The Institut Guttmann we have a long history of offering close attention to our patients, which is why we seek continuous improvement in our processes.” “The migration of part of our analogical telephony to IP telephony has allowed us to obtain a centralized management of our communications as well as the possibility of increasing the mobility of our staff and improving the user experience of our patients”

Responsible Computer Services at The Institut GuttmannThe solution
The Institut Guttmann contacted INSTEL S.L, as a telecommunications solutions integrator following the recommendation of specialists in the development of this type of migration.
After a detailed study of its needs, INSTEL proposed to The Institut Guttmann a cohabitation of its current analogical telephony together with IP telephony. This would permit the integration of the company’s communications and at the same time collaborate in real time from any place and device through a secure and reliable solution.
For the set-up of the unified communications solution, we chose the world’s leading provider of communication and collaboration solutions: Avaya. Innovation and quality are at the core of the company, making its presence continuous as a leader in Gartner’s magic quadrant
To carry out the partial migration from analogical to IP unifying the different systems, we opted to implement IP Office Server Edition + Voicemail Pro. LThe institution opted for an initial solution of 15 Avaya Power User licenses, aexpanding them to 25 after a period of use satisfactory for the different departments involved. The implementation of this proposal allowed them to start from an advantageous position when keeping part of their administrative activity at a distance during the hardest weeks of COVID 19, by having a fully adapted collaborative work platform.
The carrying out of this project by INSTEL has helped The Institut Guttmann to improve patient care and optimize their work processes, using a collaborative, safe and scalable tool over time.
