Axis makes it easier for Public Administrations to select IP cameras for projects subject to the ENS

Axis makes it easier for Public Administrations to select IP cameras for projects subject to the National Security Framework (ENS).

The Axis P3265-LVE camera has been added to the National Cryptologic Centre’s (CCN) CPSTIC catalogue, providing public-sector organisations with a security reference for video surveillance projects within the scope of Spain’s National Security Framework (ENS).

Spanish Public Administrations now have a new reference for selecting IP video surveillance technology for projects subject to the National Security Framework (ENS). The National Cryptologic Centre (CCN) has added the Axis Communications P3265-LVE OS v12.10.26 camera to its Catalogue of Information and Communication Technology Security Products and Services (CPSTIC), under the IP Cameras category.

With this addition, Axis Communications is currently the only manufacturer represented in this category of the catalogue, providing the public sector with a validated security reference to protect its video surveillance systems against growing cyber threats.

A New Benchmark for the Public Sector

The CPSTIC is an initiative of the CCN designed to help organisations select products and services that have demonstrated an appropriate level of security. The catalogue serves as a reference for the procurement of ICT security solutions for systems within the scope of the National Security Framework (ENS).

The addition of an IP camera to the catalogue also reflects the evolution of the technological infrastructure used by Public Administrations.

Today’s video surveillance cameras are no longer simply standalone image-capture devices. They are IoT devices connected to corporate networks, equipped with software and firmware, and capable of processing large volumes of data. For this reason, their security must be considered an integral part of any organisation’s overall ICT security strategy.

When assessing a video surveillance project under the ENS framework, image quality and the device’s physical durability are no longer sufficient considerations. Strict guarantees must also be required regarding protection against unauthorised access, communications encryption, credential management and the proper management of the software lifecycle.

Axis, currently the only manufacturer represented in the IP Cameras category

Axis technology stands out for incorporating advanced capabilities designed to protect devices and ensure the integrity of their information. These include the Axis Edge Vault hardware platform, digitally signed video mechanisms that prevent recordings from being tampered with, and advanced cryptographic assets that safeguard device identity across the network. Axis also holds the ETSI EN 303 645 certification, the leading European cybersecurity standard for IoT devices.

However, as the CCN points out, a product’s inclusion in the CPSTIC is a fundamental step, but it does not, in itself, mean that the entire installation automatically complies with the ENS. Full compliance depends on the overall architecture, ecosystem configuration, network segmentation and the procedures in place.

Instel: Your Strategic Partner in the Transition to an ENS-Compliant Environment

As an official integrator of Axis Communications solutions, Instel supports public- and private-sector organisations in the assessment, design and implementation of their security systems.

This milestone in the CPSTIC catalogue presents an excellent opportunity to review existing video surveillance infrastructures. In environments already equipped with compatible Axis devices, our technical team assesses firmware upgrade (Axis OS) and policy reconfiguration options to strengthen security without the need to replace the hardware. For new projects and tender specifications, we help design the right network architecture to ensure compliance with the ENS while minimising legal risks.

If you would like to understand how this development affects your current infrastructure or need technical advice for upcoming tenders, contact the Instel team. We will help you develop the right security strategy.
