Transformation of the video surveillance and IP security infrastructure at a multinational biotechnology company

  • Escalabilidad a medida

Partner tecnológico

AXIS COMMUNICATIONS

DEPARTAMENTO IT/SEGURIDAD

SUCCESS STORY

LEADING PRODUCER OF NATURAL HEALTH SOLUTIONS

A leading multinational group in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors, with over five decades of experience in the research, development, and production of standardized active ingredients, has undertaken a project to transform and integrate its critical connectivity and IP security infrastructure.

With a strong international presence spanning operational sites across Europe and the United States, the company stands out in global markets for its firm commitment to scientific validation, innovation, and the sustainability of its health-focused solutions.

The challenge

Strengthening Site Security and Connectivity

A company in the biotechnology sector, with facilities comprising production areas, warehouses, and corporate offices, needed to upgrade and expand its security and communications systems to meet the monitoring, access control, and connectivity requirements of its various spaces.

The coexistence of industrial and administrative areas presented different surveillance requirements, ranging from perimeter and access control to the monitoring of indoor areas and critical points within the technological infrastructure.

The project also required improved connectivity between buildings and an expanded network infrastructure to provide wireless coverage across work and storage areas.

The solution

Advanced IP Video Surveillance and Security Infrastructure

Instel has carried out various upgrades and expansions to the security and communications infrastructure, adapting the solutions to the specific requirements of the industrial areas, warehouses, and offices.

IP Video Surveillance and Site Security
  • The project included upgrading the AXIS IP camera system, replacing out-of-service outdoor equipment and installing additional cameras in the offices.
  • Perimeter security: outdoor cameras designed to monitor the boundaries of the premises.
Access monitoring: video surveillance of doors and entry points, including access to technical areas.
Industrial area monitoring: motorised PTZ cameras that allow security personnel to adjust the camera angle, perform panoramic movements, and zoom in to monitor different areas from the security control booth.
Office surveillance: cameras to strengthen monitoring of administrative areas and their access points.

The infrastructure is complemented by recording systems and monitoring stations, enabling security personnel to view camera footage from designated monitoring points.

Fibre Optics and Connectivity Between Buildings

To improve communications between two industrial buildings, INSTEL carried out infrastructure works involving a multimode fibre-optic link.

The works included the installation of indoor and outdoor cable routes, the implementation of the connection between the buildings, and the integration of the components required for fibre-optic termination, splicing, and connection.

This infrastructure provides a communications link between the two buildings, designed to support the interconnection of network systems and meet the connectivity requirements of the facilities.

Structured Cabling in Offices and Warehouse

The project also included upgrades to the structured cabling infrastructure, using SYSTIMAX solutions in the offices and new Category 6A UTP cabling installations in the warehouse areas.
The works included expanding network outlets, installing cable routes and distribution components, and carrying out cable termination, labelling, and certification.

      Benefits

      Corporation
      • Greater site security and control: Upgrading and expanding video surveillance systems to improve monitoring of perimeters, access points, and industrial areas.
      • Modernisation of the technological infrastructure: Upgrading security and communications systems to meet the company’s operational requirements.
      • Operational continuity: Renewing video surveillance equipment and improving connectivity between buildings to support the day-to-day operation of the facilities.
